The Health Products Stewardship Association (HPSA) is undertaking consultation on its next five-year Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Plan, as required under British Columbia’s Recycling Regulation.
HPSA’s current EPR Plan was approved in 2007. Significant Program changes include updated communication strategies for Medications and the scope expansion of the newly regulated product, Medical Sharps. One plan will be submitted to cover both Medications and Medical Sharps. The renewal process ensures that the plan continues to meet regulatory requirements and reflects updated performance measures and targets.
The draft EPR Plan is available below and will be available on the HPSA’s website for public review until July 15, 2026. Written feedback may be submitted during the consultation period (June 1-July 17) by email to bcprogram@healthsteward.ca.
